Hello again: It would appear that my earlier question didn't register, so I'll give it another try. I am trying to get some information on an item I acquired in the early 1950s. It is a 1" square piece of iron upon which is inscribed "Made from Armor Plate/Confederate Ram Merrimac." Supposedly, this "paperweight" size object was sawn from one of the Virginia's armor plates that had been salvaged. I haven't been able to locate a similar item. Is it authentic? And, since I am in the process of disposing of a small collection of Civil War items, does it have a value. I would appreciate any information anyone might have. Thank you, Charles Mack
