On page 29,the paragraph about Williamson and Brooke looking for engines and boilers seems to correspond to June 22 in Brooke's diary from the June 23 entry (Brooke, "Ironclads & Big Guns", p 22).

The next paragraph states "Mallory agreed with Williamson's idea [to use the Merrimack] and the sunken frigate U.S.S. Merrimac was chosen to be brought back from her shallow grave off the Gosport Navy Yard."

That timing is wrong. Gov. Lechter's Advisory Committee recommended raising the Merrimack on May 11. The contract was let on May 18. The Merrimack was put into the drydock on May 30.
The recommendation of using the Merrimack was presented to Mallory on either June 24 or 25.
