There are 6 drawings. The Mariners' Museum has two originals and images of all 6. I got to look at them from about 15 minutes. One of the drawings was from June '61 and is a design that doesn't include the submerged ends. IIRC, two of the drawings describe the pattern of the layers of iron on the shield. Honestly, I don't know if any of the drawings represent the final construction. The drawings appear to be to a scale. The numbers I saw are just a few which describe some of the dimensions; it is nothing like a plan as a draftsman today would draw.

Contact the Mariners' Museum to see about getting copies of the copies.

John Quarstein says he is publishing something about these drawings in about 8 months in one of the Civil War magazines.
