A cursory glance of the previously-posted messages didn't show me anything related to this subject, so I would like to bring up a pet peeve of mine: WHY did they name the nearby bridge tunnel after the USS Merrimack, rather than the CSS Virginia? I can't think of a single GOOD reason for this idiocy, given the name under which the Southern ironclad sailed and fought. As a Virginian myself, it's galling to be reminded of this rewrite of history every time I drive across the misnamed bridge. Am I alone in this sentiment? I seriously doubt it. So, what can we do about it? Is there already a movement afoot, for redressing this error? Any information on this topic would be welcome.
