I have seen a draft copy of this poster, and it will be a VERY useful tool to understand the battles. Bob has been thoroughly researching the dynamics of the battle for a year or longer and has drawn upon the expertise of other researchers in the field. (Yes, I have given him what help I can.)

Of course there is no way to recreate the battle completely as no one recorded the intricacies of the movements. But this gives as accurate an account as possible, especially considering the conflicting accounts.

In commiting this to paper, Bob has to resolve many details that researchers may not have had to think about. Even should the final poster have some aspects that are better understood later and need to be corrected, this poster will be a basis for discussion.

I am not aware of any map of the movements that is this detailed. When he first mentioned this project to me in March 2003, I told him I had long wished to do this by animation (and I still wish to) but that I hadn't had the time and energy to pursue it seriously. I am glad he has done such a thorough job.
