A Genealogy of my family
This genealogy was created by my mother, Martha Haralson
Tyson.
I was named after W.S. Mabry. He kept a
account book/journal from 1874 to
around 1910. In it he kept various records about his work and the
Mabry family. I transcribed it from a photocopy I made of the
original. I am sure there are errors and have made no real attempt to
proofread it.
My family and the family I grew up with.
My mother's family.
- William S. Mabry (1849-1941) of
Selma, AL.
Although not a blood relative, I was named after W.S. Mabry
("Uncle Willie") because he was such a gentleman and influence on
my mother.

Mabry and Virginia Mabry (1854-??).
- Mabry spent about 60 years in Texas. He was the County
Surveyor for Oldham County. He surveyed the land and determined
the boundaries of the land to become the famous XIT Ranch, the
largest in Texas. During this time, he established the true
position of the northwest corner of Texas. He spent many years
in San Antonio and the Texas Panhandle where he was friends
with Frank James and Pat Garret.
- Mark Catesby was
a famed naturalist in the 1700s, rivaling Audubon. He published
the two volume Natural history of Carolina, Florida, and the
Bahama Islands (1731-43).
