Mark Catesby
Naturalist

Mark Catesby was a famed naturalist in the 1700s, rivaling Audubon. He published the two volume Natural history of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands (1731-43).

Exhibits of his work are in the Arader Galleries (NY, SF, Philadelphia, Houston, King of Prussia) and at the Joel Oppenheimer galleries in Chicago.
